Burmeister & Wain integrates Comos® as global engineering tool

May 2005 – Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractors A/S, BWSC with its headquarters in Allerød, Denmark, has decided on the application of the software engineering solution Comos® from innotec GmbH, Germany.

The decision for evaluation of Innotec and their integrated engineering suite Comos® came in December last year. Suboptimal results of the engineering process had preceded the decision, whereupon Comos®, was evaluated best engineering suite solution to replace an integrated software solution with an elderly architecture, which have been in used in BWSC for at least one decade.

The main reason for the application of Comos® develops from its consistency between process engineering, automation and electrical engineering. The target is an efficient, flexible and transparent workflow which is attained within the entire multidisciplinary data and document management. So the software solution guarantees the standardisation of the engineering process and generation of a transparent workflow between different departments in the head office. Later on access from Power Station building sites is foreseen.

The test and implementation of Comos® started in January 2005; final decision for purchase of Comos® was taken end of May. A successive implementation process is planned and at the end of this year all new Diesel power Plant orders will be engineered using Comos®, later on sales phase engineering and documentation will also be implemented.

Altogether 60 licences worldwide are planned.
