From a gingerbread house to a real home for people in need - here's how it works
Everyone who wants to take part in the campaign will receive a free gingerbread house kit from us and can then give free rein to their creativity when assembling and decorating. Many offices, households and nurseries are already busy making their own gingerbread houses and certainly not skimping on icing and decorations. The more colourful, the better! Then it's time to pull out your camera or mobile phone and take a snapshot for innotec. Because not only do we enjoy the colourful pictures, we also donate 26 euros per delicious "piece of evidence" to this year's DESWOS project.
Social and economic participation for women - this year's project
All donations will go to a project in Cochabamba in the highlands of Bolivia. Many (indigenous) women live there with their families in informal settlements where they have built their own huts that are not connected to the electricity or (waste) water network. DESWOS is enabling 40 of them to complete a masonry training programme and is also helping to set up women's building cooperatives. The aim is to enable the women to improve their housing situation through their own efforts and also to give them the opportunity to contribute to their families' livelihoods through small jobs in the construction industry. The cooperative organisation is intended to strengthen their position and enable them to participate in political and social decision-making processes that affect the families' living space. The lack of property titles for land and houses means that there is a constant fear of eviction, while at the same time there is a lack of municipal investment as the settlements have no official status.
Every gingerbread house is therefore literally a building block to create a safe home for Bolivian families.
